RESET THE COUNTER

The counter that is used in your meter is an Omron H7EC counter.  When you receive your meter, you will not be able to use the reset button on the front of the counter to reset the number display back to zero because the key protect switch is on.  The reason we factory set the key protect switch on, is so that the number of degree days on the number display won't be accidentally reset to zero.  This would cause havoc in the middle of the heating season.  But if you want the reset button active, follow the given procedures below:

1.    Unplug the meter.

2.    Remove the ten Allen screws from the font of the face plate.

3.    Pick up the face plate and locate the back of the counters.  You'll be able to see the input
terminals on the back of the counter.  Writing and diagrams will be on the top of the
counter.  There are actually two white switches on this side.  The key protect switch is
the one that is directly below the label "1".  Your going to have to take the white bracket
off that holds the counter tight to the face plate to see the switches.

4.    To turn the key protect switch off, take the tip of a pen and slide the switch to the off
position.  Slide the switch towards the label "1".

5.    Now the reset button on the front of the counter can be used to reset the number display
       back to zero.

6.    If you want to deactivate the reset button again, simply slide the key protect switch back
to the on position.  Slide the switch away from the label "1".
